In February 2023, Tesla Toronto joined the global Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day movement by hosting a group of middle school girls from the Greater Toronto Area to our battery manufacturing facility. I had the pleasure of leading the event planning and execution of this interactive day designed to inspire young girls to pursue a future career in engineering.
EMPLOYEE PANELS
Employee panels gave the young ladies an opportunity to hear the stories of engineers, technicians, managers, and designers. Through Q&A they were able to learn the day-to-day activities of various technical roles at Tesla and what steps would be necessary to pursue similar career paths.
FACTORY TOUR
A guided tour through our manufacturing facility demonstrated the power of engineering design by showcasing Tesla's state-of-the-art robotics equipment; designed by the same engineers the students met at the employee panels.
ENGINEERING WORKSHOP
A hands-on workshop challenged the girls to put their own engineering skills to the test! After a crash course in electromagnetics, they got to build their own mini electric motors using house hold materials. This was the first time the majority of the girls had built something on their own.
