During my tenure at Jaza - a last-mile microutility company serving off-grid communities in Sub-Saharan Africa - I've played a pivotal role in driving the company's vision, strategy, and operational efficiency. I achieve this through two dynamic lenses: business operations and program management.
As the BizOps Lead, I closely collaborate with C-Suite to establish quarterly targets, kick-off initiatives to improve suffering KPIs, and spearhead the establishment of a Project Management Office that ensures streamlined project execution company-wide.
Simultaneously, as the company's Program Manager, I oversee a diverse portfolio of projects, including leading the accelerated expansion of Jaza's footprint in Nigeria, organizing company retreats focused on professional development, and revamping the supply chain department. My time at Jaza has provided invaluable onsite experience, demonstrating how the fusion of engineering and social impact can positively transform lives.
POST-GRADUATE CERTIFICATE OF HUMANITARIAN WATER ENGINEERING
DAHDALEH INSTITUTE FOR GLOBAL HEALTH RESEARCH
YorkU's intensive Humanitarian Water Engineering certification was my first deep dive into the fundamentals of humanitarianism. Studying the Humanitarian Charter, Humanitarian Code of Conduct, International Humanitarian Law, and the Sphere Handbook provided me the framework for decision making in emergency humanitarian response. Studying these internationally adopted standards through an engineering lens was my favourite part of the course! I learnt how to design water treatment and water distribution systems with minimal budget, minimal time, and a vulnerable user base.

My returning role at Tesla was all about batteries! I embarked on an intense dive into the design of the lithium-ion batteries that power Tesla’s vehicles. I quickly grew into a Senior Project Management role that required me to be a key liaison between the production teams responsible for specifying battery manufacturing requirements, and the design engineering teams responsible for building the manufacturing equipment. I worked intimately with these international teams to manage projects of high visibility and value, while applying project management skills to assure the timely and efficient execution of the projects. I led my teams to successfully deliver a total of 7 mass production battery lines within Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin, Gigafactory Texas, and Fremont factories - see equipment here. It warms my heart to know these lines will contribute to accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy for years to come.

I was initially drawn to the UP team by our shared desire to use technology to uplift underserved communities. Though, what made me feel most at home throughout this role was the medley of compassionate people that make up UP's diverse workforce. The gamut of experiences among this team is what allowed us to make the Uncharted System suitable for any community in need of reliable power. Advising UP on their electromechanical design of smart city infrastructure brought me great pride to support democratizing the world's access to clean and sustainable power.

At Beach Cleaning Automated we've put our blood, sweat, and tears into building a mobile robot known as The Autonomous Beach Cleaning Device (ABCD), that we've designed to remove litter from beaches around the world in order to prevent ocean pollution. The ABCD leverages machine learning and computer vision to identify garbage and obstacles on public beaches. It then capitalizes on its 10 hp powertrain, robust navigation algorithm, and cutting-edge waste intake system to eliminate garbage.
As the Project Manager, I led a diverse group of engineers to build the robot in a rapid launch time of 8 months with a limited budget of $4,000. Concurrently, as the Systems Design Engineer, I owned the waste collection sub-system, for which I collaborated with Chinese suppliers to design, produce, and ship a customized wire mesh conveyor belt.

Tesla's dynamic work culture taught me the art of delivering high-quality results while juggling numerous projects of competing priorities. My role as an engineer on the Battery Abuse Testing and Engineering Team encompassed the design of hand tools used by assembly line associates, managing external vendors to develop custom metal spray coating techniques, and building mechanical test rigs for proof-of-concept research projects. Moreover, I've learned my peak productivity occurs while working with a group whose mission aligns with my personal career goals. I continue to be inspired by Tesla today.

Rapyuta is an international startup working towards empowering lives with connected machines by developing a cloud platform for multi-robotic systems. I supported the development of the c.drone hardware solution that uses an autonomous surveillance drone and stationary charging station to demonstrate the potential of the cloud platform to clients. My responsibilities included using Altium Designer to print PCBs that served as buck-boost converters in the drone, and coordinating their deployment across multilingual design teams. I'm grateful for this time I spent living in Tokyo while working with renowned robotics professionals from around the world, whose work gave me a glimpse into the challenges and rewards of a startup employee's life.

My life changing move to China to work at Soochow University's Orthopedic Institute was my first experience working in a multicultural environment. It humbled me to explore my place in the world and opened my eyes to the global impact I can have through my engineering career. I thrived while working alongside orthopedic surgeons and researchers who were exploring the use of 3D printing technology to create medical solutions for orthopedic diseases. Together, we developed the CAI Laxity Pro 1000, a mechanical device that diagnoses Chronic Ankle Instability while being X-ray and MRI compatible.
